Sara Masinaei is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and actress based in Dubai. Her practice navigates the intersection of memory, identity, and transformation, often engaging directly with the urban environment as both subject and material. Weaving together elements of performance, writing, visual storytelling, and installation, she explores the silent histories embedded in landscapes, architecture, and everyday encounters.
Holding a Master of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, London, and with over two decades of experience within the UAE’s cultural landscape, Sara’s work gathers impressions, materials, and stories that evolve into emotionally resonant artworks. These layered narratives invite reflection and dialogue.
Sara has exhibited extensively both internationally and regionally, and has participated in significant cultural initiatives. She continues to develop projects that bridge the emotional and the conceptual, challenging boundaries between mediums, spaces, and audiences, while maintaining a deep sensitivity to local contexts alongside a global perspective.
During this residency, she will continue the development of her ongoing project, which explores urbanism through perception, narrative, and embodied experience. The project considers how cities are not only constructed physically, but also shaped through memory, movement, and personal histories. Expanding this research, she will investigate the relationship between built environments and shifting perspectives, examining how scale, rhythm, and spatial transitions influence the ways we see, inhabit, and interpret space.
