Iced Architects

We are delighted to announce that Iced Architects has joined Dom Art Projects as our latest Studio Residents

Alexei Kononenko and Ilya Voznesensky
Iced Architects is a group of architect-artists who have been working in Moscow since 1993. Its current members are Alexei Kononenko (b. 1968, Kyiv, Ukraine), Olga Petrunenko (b. 1972, Moscow, Russia), and Ilya Voznesensky (b. 1970, Moscow, Russia), all of whom graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute.

Working at the intersection of art and architecture, the group continues the legacy of the “paper architects”, whose practice centres on speculative and conceptual architectural projects. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, they realised a number of ambitious projects within Russia’s changing economic landscape. More recently, their practice has focused on concept-based works responding to specific sites.

Their projects have been presented internationally at exhibitions, biennales, and festivals, including the Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art (2013), the Georgian National Museum in Tbilisi (2016), and the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin (2010), where The Hotel for the Homeless was included in the Modernicon exhibition and nominated for the Kandinsky Prize.
