Talk: The Art of Slowing Down and Plant Temporalities

A Public Talk on The Art of Slowing Down and Plant Temporalities. Part of the public program for Time That Grows Slowly
Vegetal time is not merely a metaphor, but a distinct way of experiencing the world. Time That Grows Slowly invites us to shift our attention away from acceleration and toward temporalities shaped by growth, dormancy, and regeneration—where slowness becomes a form of resistance.

This public talk brings together the exhibition’s curator and participating artists to explore how artistic practices attune us to non-human rhythms and reconsider what it means to inhabit slow time within the context of a fast-paced city.

Speakers:

Alexander Burenkov — Curator of Time That Grows Slowly
Maha Alasaker — Kuwaiti artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores memory, ecology, and the emotional dimensions of landscape through drawing, installation, and material experimentation.
Farah Soltani — Iranian artist working across sculpture and installation. Her practice draws on close observation of everyday life, transforming ordinary materials and situations into complex spatial experiences.
Sulafa Mohammed — Emirati artist working with textile techniques and crochet. Her practice functions as a form of archiving and documentation, in which the slow, meditative act of making brings renewed attention to overlooked details of daily life.

Moderator:

Alisa Bagdonaite — Co-founder and Chief Curator of Dom Art Projects
