Lecture: The Art of Collecting

Dom Art Projects is launching a new Collector's Circle initiative dedicated to the theory and practice of art collecting.
The program brings together a structured lecture series on the history and theory of art with practical session and professional insights from related fields, including law, investment, logistics, storage, and collection management.

Designed for both emerging and experienced collectors, the program offers a comprehensive understanding of what it means to collect art today. Participants will explore the history of influential private and institutional collections, learn how to begin or develop their own collecting journey, and discover how to build a personal collection at any budget level, one that is coherent, meaningful, and holds both cultural and material value.

Special attention is given to the everyday realities of living with art: working with a collection over time, caring for artworks, managing ownership responsibly, and navigating legal and operational considerations. The program also examines the importance of relationships with artists, galleries, and institutions, and how these connections shape contemporary collecting practices.

The opening talk, "The Art of Collecting", will be delivered by Alisa Bagdonaite. Anna Pumpyanskaya will also share her personal experience, speaking about her own collection, her methodology, her work with major collections, and the process of building a private collection.

This program aims to support anyone interested in collecting in navigating the complex and multi-layered field of contemporary art, regardless of prior experience.
