Artist vs Machine

A lecture on Digital Art
The second lecture in Digital Art: Ideas, Histories, Personalities examines changing models of authorship in digital art, from individual artists and collectives to collaborations between artists and engineers, and the emergence of human–machine collaboration.

Through historical examples, including Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.), early computer poetry, and algorithmic music by Pierre Barbaud and Iannis Xenakis, the lecture explores how computers have transformed the creative process and considers questions of artistic authorship in the era of AI.
