Join us for an Art & Science Breakfast with Elena Nemkova and a guest scientist
Together with artist Elena Nemkova (born in Tajikistan, based in Italy), curators and invited scientists, we will explore how scientific knowledge and cultural imaginaries shape our understanding of what lies beneath the soil, and how artistic vision can challenge, transform, and expand the ways we perceive the world beneath our feet.
Elena Nemkova’s monumental sculpture Agony in the Garden (2026), presented by Dom Art Gallery, is on view as part of Frieze Sculpture in the English Gardens of The Regent’s Park from 16 September to 1 November 2026.
About Nemkova
Elena Nemkova is an artist from Tajikistan who lives and works in Milan. Coming from a family of scientists, her practice explores the hidden tension between advanced scientific research and the archaic instincts that continue to shape human behaviour. Working across performance, sculpture, and drawing, Nemkova creates unified visual spaces that bring these different modes of practice into dialogue.
