Shamin Sharum will open his studio to share discoveries from his two-month residency at Dom Art Projects, in collaboration with Bayt Al Mamzar.
Focusing on the surrounding Al Qouz area where the studio is located, Shamin explores how migrant workers organise themselves through informal practices of labour, rest, and adaptation to their environment. Through photographic documentation, collage, and object assemblage, he observes and investigates the unspoken systems of organisation, rest, and congregation that shape everyday life in an industrially zoned area.
The Open Studio will present these findings and reflections on the vernacular habits of Al-Qouz with the wider public at Dom Art Projects.
